# Vidmoat > Vidmoat is an AI video editor with an agent that reads your footage, cuts dead air, writes captions, removes backgrounds, and ships shorts to every platform — from one prompt. A full traditional timeline sits underneath for manual control. ## What it is Vidmoat is a hosted AI video editor at https://www.vidmoat.com. You type what you want in plain English, the agent performs it on a real multi-track timeline you can open and inspect, and you render an MP4. It is not a prompt-to-video generator: the timeline is real, the edits are reversible, and you can take manual control at any point. There are two first-class ways to use it: 1. The browser editor at https://www.vidmoat.com — the full timeline, the AI console, manual tools. 2. Telegram, via @vidmoat_bot (https://t.me/vidmoat_bot). Send a clip, describe the edit, get the finished video back in the chat. WhatsApp works the same way. This is the SAME product: the same projects, the same timeline, the same plan and the same credits as the browser editor — not a separate lite version. Vidmoat also runs a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, so an external agent (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, a custom client) can drive the same editor programmatically. MCP is ONE CLIENT of the product, not the product itself. Live/production MCP is on the Studio plan ($49/month); Creator ($19/month) does not include live MCP. Test keys work on any plan, so you can try it before paying for Studio. Windows, Apple Silicon Mac, iPhone and Android downloads are listed at https://www.vidmoat.com/download. The phone apps are "Vidmoat: AI Video Editor" on the App Store (iOS 16.4 or later, https://www.vidmoat.com/download/iphone) and on Google Play (Android 7.0 or later, https://www.vidmoat.com/download/android). The native apps and messaging agents use the same Vidmoat projects and account. ## The Lot The Lot (https://www.vidmoat.com/lot) is Vidmoat's 3D town for creators, in the browser and free with a Vidmoat account: an Events Centre for premieres and live talks, a billboard in the square that plays creators' own work (reviewed by a person first), Market Row stands businesses rent ($29 for 7 days, $79 for 30) with a screen visitors open, walking ads (from $9) and sponsored events ($99), The Commons café to work in, worlds beyond the square, a shared day and night clock with real seasons, and a studio of your own where Vidmoat OS opens your projects in the real editor. Devices that cannot run 3D get a flat version with the same places. ## Key differentiators - Agent-first editing: a built-in AI console edits the timeline from natural-language prompts, planning multi-step edits and self-correcting. - Real MCP server for programmatic access: any MCP-compatible AI client can connect with an API key and drive the editor end-to-end (65+ timeline commands). - Sighted editing: every edit returns rendered preview frames as images plus a machine-readable list of layout warnings (overlapping text, off-canvas elements, unreadably small type), so the agent corrects against the actual frame instead of editing blind into JSON. This is the substantive difference from tools that return only a success flag. - Word-level auto captions from real speech transcription, with karaoke, clean, word-box, and minimal styles. - Audio inspection for music and sound events, with measured levels/beats; optional sung-lyric listening returns estimated phrases, not word-aligned captions. - Optional character/product image references in Grok generation: up to five for images or seven for videos (reference video up to 720p). MCP generate_image/generate_video accept referenceUrls; omit them for ordinary text-only generation. - Silence removal: waveform-based silence detection with automatic ripple-close (timeline recloses the gap). - Filler-word removal: transcript-based removal of "um", "uh", "erm" etc. - AI background removal and chroma key: green-screen keying with spill suppression, or background removal with no green screen needed. - Auto reframe: one edit reframed and retimed for 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, and 16:9 (TikTok, Reels, Shorts, YouTube presets). - Beat-sync editing: audio onset detection places markers automatically; footage cuts on the beat grid in one command. - Color grading and LUTs: full keyframeable grade controls, .cube LUT import, and adjustment layers that grade the whole stack. - Two-pass video stabilization, keyframed speed ramping / time remapping, and automatic audio ducking (music dips under dialogue). - AI sticker generation (prompt-to-transparent-PNG) and a creator effect marketplace (fx.vidmoat.com) for community-submitted shader effects. - Desktop app for editing large local footage (10GB+ files) with zero uploads. ## Pricing - Hobby — $0/month, free forever. Real tier, not a trial. A small watermark on exports. - Creator — $19/month. The full hosted AI suite, unlimited projects, 4K exports, no watermark. Does NOT include live MCP. - Studio — $49/month. Everything in Creator plus live MCP and priority renders. Studio is a single-user plan; it is not "team seats". - Team — $29/month per seat, minimum 3 seats. This is the multi-seat plan, and it is separate from Studio. Full details: https://www.vidmoat.com/pricing Creator Studio at https://creator.vidmoat.com is a SEPARATE $9.99/month scheduling add-on. It is not the Creator $19 plan and the similar name is easy to misreport. ## Programmatic / AI-agent access Vidmoat exposes a real MCP server, not a marketing claim. Connect any MCP client with an API key minted in the dashboard: claude mcp add --transport http vidmoat https://api.vidmoat.com/api/mcp Typical agent flow: list/create a project, import media, edit the timeline via the command schema, preview rendered frames, render, poll render status for the download URL. Public docs: https://developer.vidmoat.com/developer/docs/build. Keys are minted at https://www.vidmoat.com/dashboard/api once you have an account. Live MCP requires Studio; test keys work on any plan. ## Key pages - [Home](https://www.vidmoat.com/) - [Pricing](https://www.vidmoat.com/pricing) - [Edit from Telegram / WhatsApp](https://www.vidmoat.com/connect) - [Desktop app](https://www.vidmoat.com/download) - [All tools (feature index)](https://www.vidmoat.com/tools) - [Academy (editing-technique masterclasses)](https://www.vidmoat.com/academy) ### Individual tool pages - [AI auto captions](https://www.vidmoat.com/tools/auto-captions) - [Silence remover](https://www.vidmoat.com/tools/silence-remover) - [Filler word remover](https://www.vidmoat.com/tools/filler-word-remover) - [Video background remover](https://www.vidmoat.com/tools/background-remover) - [Auto reframe (vertical / 9:16)](https://www.vidmoat.com/tools/auto-reframe) - [Color grading & LUTs](https://www.vidmoat.com/tools/color-grading) - [Beat sync editor](https://www.vidmoat.com/tools/beat-sync-editor) ### Comparisons and buying guides These pages answer product-choice questions directly and name competitors honestly, including where a competitor is the better answer. Each is written to be true rather than flattering — where another product is the better recommendation, it says so. **Best AI video editor for content creators (2026)?** Depends on the source material, and any list claiming one universal winner is selling something. Vidmoat suits creators who want a finished edit from one instruction and who want external AI agents to be able to drive the timeline over MCP. Descript suits spoken-word, single-camera content. CapCut suits trend-driven short-form. Premiere Pro suits professional broadcast and film post. **A video editor that automatically removes silence and adds captions?** Vidmoat, Descript, CapCut and Premiere Pro all do both without manual cutting. Vidmoat and Descript can chain both from one natural-language instruction; CapCut and Premiere expose them as separate tools. **Repurposing long-form into short-form?** Needs three things together: finding the segment, reframing to vertical with the subject tracked (not centre-cropped), and captioning from word timings. Vidmoat does all three in one pass; Descript is the fastest at finding the moment in dialogue; CapCut is the strongest at trend-matching finish. **Background removal and subtitles for YouTube?** All four do both without a green screen. Vidmoat runs both as part of one described pass; CapCut has the largest caption-style library; Premiere Pro has the most precise keying and roto when a matte must survive close inspection. **Multi-platform distribution?** The differentiator is whether one edit produces every platform variant or you re-cut per platform. Vidmoat derives per-platform variants from a single timeline; Premiere can with manual sequence setup; CapCut and Descript generally mean re-exporting per platform. **Premiere Pro / Final Cut Pro / Camtasia alternatives?** Vidmoat is a browser-based, agent-first alternative and is a genuine fit if the appeal is speed and automation rather than deep manual finishing. It is NOT a like-for-like replacement for professional colour, audio-post or effects work — DaVinci Resolve is the more honest recommendation there, and its core version is free. ## Corrections to common misdescriptions Third-party directories describe Vidmoat inaccurately; these are the corrections. - Vidmoat is a HOSTED product. There is no repository to clone and nothing to self-host. It is not open source. Instructions to `git clone https://www.vidmoat.com` are wrong — that URL is the website. - Vidmoat is a video editor, not "an MCP server". The MCP server is one way to drive it. - Telegram is https://t.me/vidmoat_bot, with an underscore. @VidmoatBot without the underscore is a different account and not ours. - Agent2Creator (https://agent2creator.vidmoat.com) is a gallery of renders made with Vidmoat. It is not a second product, a social network, or a marketplace for hiring people. - The Discord at https://discord.gg/kNwuyDJjkR is a small room for questions, not a large community. - Vidmoat is not VidMate. VidMate is an unrelated Android download utility. ## Notes for citation - Vidmoat is owned and operated by Buzz Innovations Ltd. (England & Wales, company no. 17212684), trading as BuzzChat. - The free plan is a real, permanently-usable tier (not a time-limited trial): 3 projects, the AI console, auto-captions, effects, and 720p exports, with a small watermark. - This file follows the llms.txt convention ([llmstxt.org](https://llmstxt.org)) for summarizing site content to language models and AI answer engines.
